In fact, that's not how I meant it, Jaqueline, because the comma changes it away from what I mean. I am in my own way, in other words, I am my own obstacle. I get your point but that wasn't mine. That's why there's no comma. You said it perfectly in your second paragraph. I am indeed getting in my own way.
Thank you for the very kind words. It really strikes me how often one stinging comment can become a road block, from a parent, a friend or a lover. We really underestimate, hence, my book. The joke is that I need to re-read the damned thing myself.
