You what this makes me think of: the coal mine company store. You had to buy overpriced food from that store, you could never pay it off, so you were forever indentured to the Company., Being Black , to my mind, is akin to that. You can never apologize enough for the one millimeter of skin that marks you as some Nature deemed needing enough color to protect against raging sun, but that translucent layer makes you worthy of every kind of abuse possible. It boggles the mind.
