You might thoroughly enjoy the book The Hollow Man by Dan Simmons. He does his research; short version is that he explores the idea of life/man as a standing wave. Your comment is very esoteric, and so is this book, which is why it didn't do as well as others. However it's damned smart, a lot of math, and very very provocative in terms of how we consider life. You're clearly a thinker; this book will I think appeal to that part of you which likes to be challenged and made to think hard.
