The piece argues, rightfully, that increasingly our troops are being drawn from those families who already have a history of serving. Over time, that number is going to get ever smaller. This at the same time that Orange Face is kicking folks who served out of the country after fighting for us. Because they’re immigrants/brown/etc. Historically, people from other countries have often joined a fight they thought important, and because they thought that by putting life and limb at risk for that country, they’d have a legit shot at citizenship. Not in America any more. You sign up, lose a limb or two, fight for a country, and get kicked out.
Help me out with this. As if the military weren’t problematic enough.
