I would offer this up as my favorite example: Some years ago after I had gone to the Tahuayo Lodge in Peru, in the Amazon, I met the founder, a man named Dr. Paul Beaver. He is widely considered the leading expert on the Amazon. To this, he said in his quiet, understated way, “I know nothing.”
I never forgot that lesson. There was such grace in his humility, and genuine wisdom. All I know is that the more I learn, the more I have to acknowledge how little I know, how little I am, in the face of the great Cosmos.
