Yes and no, Sean. I think it depends. I read the comments, always, but if I am two or three words in and it is absolutely clear that the only reason someone is commenting is to do serious harm, fuck 'em. That's of course the long tail of the bell curve.

The rest of the comments so often contain gems. Not just the occasional typo but insights. When folks can disagree with a modicum of civility I am all in, and there have been plenty of damned good ideas even in the stuff that’s hard to read.

There's a line, I think. The part I think you're addressing is where folks just can't handle ANYTHING. That's dysfunctional, and in some ways just as bad as hurling viciousness just to do harm.
