Years ago I dumped about eighty pounds, and began a process which eventually turned me into an athlete.

To your point: I don’t have kids, a husband, or any of the many myriad responsibilities that would detract me from that path.

I don’t have a cadre of trainers, either. However, again, to your point, I had the time.

I am sick unto death of the LOOK AT ME spiteful, hateful bullshit that points out how YOU don’t have perfect body, but I DO, when the reality of our situations have vastly more to do with how we end up.

Yes, perhaps there are some things we could do. But here’s a larger point .When the time comes for your kids to leave the nest, and you have a bit more me time, research all says, glowingly, that if you choose to put the time in to your fitness, your body will holler THANK YOU and respond.

Will you get your waist back? likely not. But will you enjoy functional fitness? Yep.

And for my part, the arrogant, judging shite that these women toss out is worthless. We already deal with plenty of internal body shaming, when the reality is that the body that you have, which did the hard work of bringing kids into the world, deserves the kind of worship that ancient societies offered it as its due. Before the advent of patriarchal religions, for some twenty five thousand years, the female body WAS the deity. (Please see When God Was a Woman, Merlin Stone). So kindly, to those who suck the dick of body beautiful at all costs, kindly, go spit. Just. Go. Spit.

What that tells me is that they are in the prison of HAVING to be beautiful. And kindly, as they age, and I am no 67 so I can speak to aging, they will die a million, million deaths as they wrinkle, and they will, as they sag, and they will, and they descend, as they will into self hatred over the one thing that you can I cannot possibly stop- we AGE.

The female body gives life. For my part, even though I chose not to go that path I say fuck you to the puerile, self important, self absorbed women blessed with good enough genes so that post-pregnancy recovery is swift. I say fuck you to those who feel the need to shame anyone for any reason.

They are part of the problem.
