Wow, Dave, I’ve not seen or heard that. I don’t read stuff from those folks so I’m not clued in. I use this phrase in my own articles. However, the phrase Let’s be clear got me in trouble with someone who accused me of pilfering it from Elizabeth Warren’s speeches. I’d never listened to one so I had no clue what he was referring to. I think there are two ways of looking at this: 1) a phrase might have baggage, but that doesn’t mean that the writer means it that way, so it needs to be taken in context and 2) the baggage is in the mind of the reader, not necessarily that of the writer. Doesn’t make me right. Just something to consider.
