While I hardly know I'm right, the way I was brought up is that you don't earn a medal without giving something up. Since I'm a veteran, that usually meant in the categories of blood, sweat tears or all of the above. I am TIRED of folks getting hero buttons for effectively nothing, such as simply being beautiful or handsome, or being in the right place holding the right placard.

After which they run off to the Next Big Thing in order to get something to hang on the wall to feel good about without losing something- called an investment- in the process.
