While I can take this any way I want, the truth is that first, she did indeed get fat and blame it on age, which is bullshit. She has other and bigger issues. SEcond, there is NO WAY Hollywood would, in a movie showing cocks in cockpits, allow a damned smart, PHD aging woman to have center stage, Not on your life. They need fluff. While again I've not seen the movie, why would Maverick, a dedicated asshole, have been loyal to her all these years? It doesn't fit the character, but Hollywood fits the story line. Aging pilot gets much younger and smarter and wiser chick, as with McGillis in the first. She was too smart to be that stupid but it didn't work for the story line.
