While clearly I’m not in the mainstream, I find this incomprehensible, that to drop this kind of dime for a phone is utterly appalling. Among many in my circle, we long for a phone that functions solely as phone, as so many of us eschew all the bells and whistles that addict the mainstream, crank our necks out of joint and cost us our lives. At what point do we call bullshit on this bullshit?

It’s one thing to have a device support your lifestyle. It’s another for it to be your entire lifestyle in and of itself. Like money, technology is a great servant but lousy master.

I have no interest whatsoever in having a device distract me from life, subjecting me to injuries, illness, loss of hours and days and months whilst throwing advertising crap at me, constantly inviting me to scroll next next next next when the world is passing me by at warp speed. It works for the Verizons of the world. Not for those who want to live vividly, suck the marrow out of life and who could bloody well care less about ‘gram photos. We’re too busy climbing the next mountain, riding the next hill, galloping the next horse, kissing the ones we love. If you have to document that for it to be real, then I suggest a therapist, not an iPhone. Your thousand will be far better invested.
