We only just recently discovered that voles mate for life. I’d admire them for it if a great many of them hadn’t taken out all my junipers. That said, I find this remarkable. Because for my part, in direct opposite to the King and I where in the King sings to his English teacher that a “flower must not ever fly from bee to bee to bee.” I disagree. Having been single most of my life it’s been my delight to enjoy the pleasurable company of all kinds of men, to which I owe nobody an apology. If anything, those many and varied experiences taught me a great deal about what I wanted, wouldn’t settle for, and the value of learning to enjoy being alone. Kids were never in the picture. Therefore, being a solo girl, traveler and adventurer, that has allowed me the kind of freedom largely only given to men. While that’s most certainly changing to day, in my time (I’m 65) it was most certainly unacceptable. Posh. I sure as hell had fun. And I still am. The partner I finally chose is pretty much perfect. For now.
