To this, I have a friend who is 76 and about to completely retool her life. Another who is 62 and about to become a vet tech. It is our compulsion to buy into the lies around ageing (and I’ve been there plenty) that trips us up. At 66 I am totally retooling my life, it’s a lifelong habit. Some things are greying, some sag, some wrinkle. But a new life is forever and always available- and if I may- especially when we don’t have an aunt who convinces us that we’re too old. We so often give away power and our agency to others because of their fears, their own limitations. That is what ages us.
Lovely article. Now I have to go hit my bike downstairs, do PT and yoga on my living room floor, eat a big healthy breakfast and lift weights. Because I am eternally young.
