This to me is the living personification of: If not me, Who? If not now, When?

My Grandma Jane was one of the first schoolteachers in our native Sierra Leone. At the time, women didn’t work. If they did, they were considered too liberated, and this wasn’t seen as a good thing. When my Grandpa died, my Grandma had seven mouths to feed. She went out and worked. She held her head up high as she walked down the street despite all the taunts she received from naysayers. She was actually one of the first feminists in Sierra Leone. I love to think that I inherited her strength and determination to stand up for what she believed in.
