This reminds me of the very early 1970s when I thumbed across America at 18. Just because I had jeans on, every rude I got from a guy turned into an argument about how I must believe in FreeLove JUST because I had on jeans. This was of course right at the tipping point when jeans became the American uniform but we weren't there yet. Jeans were what those California free love girls wore and they came off for everyone who asked, hence free love.
