This model, unfortunately, would bring the economy to a screeching halt. Why on earth would we want billions of happier, satisfied, content people on earth vs. billions of angry, dissatisfied, striving folks spending their treasure on mindless idiocy just to look rich, seem rich, and feel empty? Silly me. :-)
There's a great commencement speech by David Foster Wallace, who sadly took his life in 2008, wherein he speaks to what owns us: it's what we worship. Beauty, money, whatever. We will never ever ever be satisfied if we worship something external. Hard won lesson. But as long as we define being rich as having vs. being, we will never ever be rich, to your point. The richest I ever feel is when I am massaging an anxious animal to the point where he nearly falls asleep under my hands. That, Reece, makes me Queen of the Universe. No bank account will ever, ever create the joy that gives me.
