This Marley, is the heart and soul of this article, even though it’s about parenting. Black women have carried this burden for families (of all colors) for centuries. What an immensely powerful statement. I swear, at some point the Black women of our society who become powerful politicians are going to be parenting our country (and frankly, that’s not such a bad thing — I’m looking at you, Kamela Harri)s. Perhaps they, because of experiences like this, might finally, finally rewrite the patriarchal laws we live with, make rape a life sentence, abortion available to all women, family planning mandatory, and severe consequences for deadbeat dads. One can hope.
