Without doubt, we perceive being single as more problematic for women. We are therefore more shocked when single women express positivity about their single state. Both sides of the coin help to make singledom a women’s issue. The original premise, however (that being married is a highly desirable state for women) is an example of how outdated cultural norms pervade long after the current-day data has contradicted them.
