There’s a reason for this, which you already know. The poor can relate to misery. Therefore they contribute. When we have no immediate, direct experience of lack, it’s vastly easier to accuse people of laziness. It goes with the territory. Those who have the least give the most for the simple, achingly human reason that we know precisely how it feels. Greed begets more greed. Pain and loss have the potential for creating empathy. When people are largely protected by wealth from much of what vast billions experience (such as living with rivers of sewage rolling down the street in front of your shacks) then heavens, its so much easier to claim that people like living that way. Yah right.
