The word "bitch slap" comes to mind. Again, while I am not a mother, nor am I a POC, I have some minor understanding of this as I age. Especially White male doctors treat aging women as though we have no clue about our bodies. Being Black, aging and female? My second mother, a Black woman, was treated as though she was a retarded child for her diabetes. I had to repeatedly step in and demand that she be treated honorably and with respect. That a White woman had to do that in order to improve her treatment is insulting to both of us. Medical workers don't even know they do this, Rebecca. That's part of the crime. It's a knee jerk reaction which speaks to how embedded racism is, and add to that later in your life the inevitable ageism. it is genuinely hard to respect those folks.
