The single best line I have ever heard in a movie review by an NPR reviewer about the new Reacher series is that Tom Cruise is a sock puppet compared to this guy. I peed my pants and promptly fell outta my chair. I have devoured all the books and love the stories for all the right silly reasons, and I signed up just to see the series. Alan isn't the actor Cruise is, who delivered two very good movies but simply COULD NOT get fans past his 5/7" 160 lb frame when our hero is 6'5" and 250 with hands like frozen turkeys. That was an insult to all Reacher fans, and we didn't forgive. I agree that most of the acting is pedestrian, but the very first time Reacher flattens the prison bully I shrieked with laugher and was so damned delighted that I was sold. That nailed Reacher, although his difficulty in bringing down the Venezuelan bad guys didn't track. I was hoping you'd review this. I downloaded all the episodes and watched them with glee, recognizing that it's a silly affection, but he's one hero that even conservatives can love albeit he protects dogs and has distinctively independent if not liberal leanings. Now that's a small miracle. I have read and re-read all the Child books because some of his pacing, which has been compromised lately by his collaboration on the last two books, is superb. He's a damned good writer and the books are just perfect pulp thrillers.
