The only reason I read this is because you wrote it. I too have seen self-made pop experts (who are experts at nothing whatsoever, apparently) decided for the world at large who is guilty. However, how is this different from crazies at a pro or anti abortion rally? How is this different from crazies at a MAGA conference? How is this different from Medium crazies or just general internet trolls attacking anyone for any reason whatsoever? Really, the way I see it, they are all cut from the same cloth.

During the Kavanaugh hearings I along with others who came clean about decades-old rapes got similarly attacked, albeit nowhere near at this fever pitch. That these are pop idols makes this a whole different level.

It's mob mentality, the most brutal of all human behaviors, lynch mobs at their hearts ready to rip to shreds the next Public Victim, no matter that said Public Victim might have been Public Hero three days earlier.

Social media has allowed us to operate our of our basest emotions, behave like brutes, and act out our most evil impulses without sanction or regulation, compunction or remorse.

One has to wonder what kind of sickness lies in the hearts of all such people that they would seek to do such harm to others, and use it as entertainment. For that is all this is: entertainment. Nothing moral about it.

Last September I walked into a den full of African wild dogs. I've never seen anything like it. Every single dog swiveled its huge round ears towards me and as a single unit, the entire pack tracked every single move I made, like living water, seeking to surround me. I didn't let them; I had well-trained help. For the moment I let those dogs make a complete circle I was dog meat. Those animals don't register a beating heart, a will to live, the pain inflicted by sharp teeth and being consumed alive.

This is no different. Social media has made too many of us vicious pack animals.

If we want to see the enemy, go look in the bathroom mirror.
