That’s most kind of you Joseph. While my religious views are extremely inclusive, as I have the major writings of most of the big ones in my library, I will second your notation here. The ribbon in my Bible is set to the Sermon on the Mount. To my mind, that’s about as good a piece of advice for humans ever expressed. What I try to do is hold myself completely and utterly accountable for all my results, my thoughts, deeds, you name it. When I do, that allows me space to address, and perhaps over time, adjust what I find repugnant and reprehensible. If I argue that the Debil made me do it then I am nothing more than a victim of circumstance. Hey, that may work for some, but I can’t countenance a life without ownership of my sh*t. By doing this, I’ve been able to do some serious housecleaning. Even more so, this has allowed me to catch myself in the act, which is half the battle won. When I am aware in the moment, feel the emotions which are deeply unsettling, that allows a moment deep grace to appear. Boy, those are earned. The grace piece is to see myself in full, in all my flawed humanity, my egocentricty, my arrogance, my archness. To see this is to be humbled to the core. That’s a really, really good thing. Thanks so much for your comments.
