Thanks so kindly Rowan. Years ago the comedian George Carlin did a riff on this, and made the comment that we might ask those people from Pompeii if they felt like a threat to the planet. Or anyone who has ever been in a massive earthquake zone. Or anyone who was stupid enough to wander out on the open beach that appeared as a tsunami wave gathered strength far off shore. He said that the Earth could simply shake us off like a bad case of the fleas. I tend to agree. What we forget is that we’re just a species, at best, and we’re a failing one. Doesn’t matter whether we agree. When we live outside Natural laws eventually you have to pay the price. Techology isn’t going to get us there as long as those in corporations simply use it as a way to sell us more stuff.
