Thanks Marge. I was a member of Nextdoor until one of my neighbors launched a personal attack against me for warning the neighborhood that I would be hiking with a weighted vest, that the vest was black, that I'd already alerted the police that I was in training (and have done this on multiple occasions). I was making fun of myself as an Old Lady Walking. She was vicious. After that I dumped Nextdoor, because I won't participate in any medium which tolerates ugliness. I hope it was an isolated case. I realize that every community has its challenges, but I decry the use of what should be a trusted environment to fire off personal attacks against folks, when I was simply letting people know I'd be out in a vest that some folks don't understand. I already had the police called on me once- yes, that's where we are now- so I was doing my level best to be both proactive and respectful. Clearly, that juts doesn't always work. I am glad it did for you, and will believe that this was a rare occasion.
