Thank you Miriam. I agree with you when we women are immensely cruel to each other about things that we either can’t control, or the choices we make to be athletes and that sculpting defines our body shapes. It says a great deal about our society, and how easily we are manipulated to set standards which are hugely unfair, damning, demeaning, and used as a cat o’ nine tails to punish others. Last years “Force of Nature” Campaign by REI often featured plus-sized women of color who are endurance runners. Those women are many times my size, they are superb athletes, and they would run my skinny ass right into the ground. Yet they endure unbelievable abuse on line and from those they know. Fit is just FIT. Well is just WELL. Powerful is just POWERFUL. I don’t give a flying crap what package it comes in: young old, white, of color, man, woman, tranny, gay, who gives a shit really? I am impressed with the Dignity of Effort. That deserves its own article. Stay tuned. I appreciate the inspiration.
