I watch that movie, along with Seabiscuit (for the same reasons) several times a year. For the same reason that I sometimes will play the entire LOTR cycle and The Hobbit while I work around the house. But Secretariat makes me sob out loud. That final scene reaches in a grabs me by the aorta and squeezes hard. So much of what I love best, the movies that speak to me today do so because I have done so much of the work. Achievements are no longer impossible, if for any other reason than I no longer use others as my guideline. They may inspire, but I don’t wanna be like.
