Some years ago the great George Carlin did a riff on how people say I have a friend who "happens to be Black." In that he pointedly said that Colin Powell is a White man who Happens to be Black. I never forgot that, and it is just as true today if not more so. I have to think Stockholm Syndrome writ large.
