Perhaps the worst ageism I run into is with white male doctors who are themselves getting grey. I fired about eight or nine of them over the last few years. I’m beyond putting up with nitwits who make utterly unfounded assumptions about my health, activity level, the prescriptions I (don’t) take. When the medical community no longer profits on our infirmities, there will be far less ageism. But part of that challenge is up to us to a) not drink the Koolaid, and b) live out loud, be healthy, and engaged as long as we can.
