Our parents' generation had a very different, and perfectly understandable relationship with doctors. To question was unheard-of. That generation of docs also got paid to push cigarettes. We assume wisdom where there is human frailty. To your point: my body, my job to manage it. My best docs were and are funny, humble and willing to grow with me. Those are gems.
