No, Toni, not a bad day. I have a hard time sometimes with folks who chafe at editors. I agree that some are constraining, and I don't write for those pubs either. There are pubs which are better for us, and some that are not. That's the whole point here. My style is not a fit for a lot of publications and I do not get angry at those editors for telling me no. That is their perfect right, and that is in fact the point. I absolutely agree with editors' right to establish their own guidelines. I'm not sure what you picked up on, but it's not a bad day per se. It's the occasional rant, an opinion, and nobody but nobody has to agree. One time I saw an article about eggs- EGGS and nothing but eggs and how to cook them- in a pub that was all about romance and relationships. I'm not the only one who noticed, and was surprised since a few of those other writers shared privately that their pieces- about love and relationships- had been canned. Who knows, Toni? We're all human. This piece was about editors who get abused by writers who are mad at them for having standards. If you check Samra's original piece you'll understand. I am on the editor's side here. I'm not sure I understand your point, but I am not coming after the editors. I am calling out folks who are coming after editors for having rules and guidelines. I have a feeling, and I might be wrong, that we're saying the same thing.
