Michelle, as a friend to more than one Black friend, I totally get this. TBF (Token Black Friend) status seems to carry with it the perpetual burden of explaining things cc to people who don’t seem to possess the common sense to befriend a shitload of people, including those of color, so that so much of all this isn’t such a big damned surprise. Being gay, or Hispanic, or whatever isn’t White and straight.
