Linda, I just spent this past weekend proofreading a brand new book by Dr. Rosenna Bakari. It is a stunning piece of work about this very thing. I am so honored to have been asked to review it. It's an in-your-face but gentle guide to deep work, dealing with trauma and a lot more. Rosenna and I are joined at the hip in this kind of labor; I've spent more than half my life exploring these issues and facing those demons which is why I regularly reference them. The two people referenced in this article, both much younger women, took umbrage in part, it seems because they cannot discern the fundamental difference between having behaviors called out vs. being called bad people. That kind of very important clarification - or rather the lack of skill in that department- is part of maturation. The inability to see humor, to enjoy a laugh, or even to get a kicmk out of being the butt of a joke because of one's own silliness are all part of deep work. Yet the knee jerk response- of all ages- is to be offended. No wonder folks are called snowflakes. I'm not going to stoop to that but I'm also not going to have those folks behave badly on my threads. That is their journey. Of course it's hard. It's supposed to be.
