Let’s be clear. This approach sells books, gym memberships, supplements, liposuction, and endless products making promises they can’t keep. GUILT SELLS. As long as it’s my fault, then of course I can do something about it. It’s vastly more complex than this, but the medical community (which is chock full of very sick people themselves) isn’t paid for prevention, nutritional guidance or exercise physiology. They are paid for problems. Problems make money. If people get well, are healthy, they go broke. Especially if they’re in the obesity business.
I agree completely. It happens that I beat my battle of the bulge, but I followed a path that is now loudly trumpeted as brand new. Dump the sugar and heavy carbs, eat more veges and fruit, learn what my body does and doesn’t like, and move move move move. My process is NOT for everyone and that is the whole point. It’s worked for now 31 years, which means I must have found a lifestyle. But that’s because I will not listen to conventional wisdom. We have to carve our own paths. When nutritional guidance from the gov is driven by special interest groups (sugar, anyone) then you and I are ON OUR OWN. Thanks for a great article.
