KKM,

I am fascinated by this, because of our shared experiences. Over the last few weeks I have been in conversation with someone up in Portland, not far from where I plan to land one of these days. While some of my story is different, in that this person is indeed an athlete (which for me isn’t negotiable if for no other reason that a non athlete would never understand my compulsive need to move and do what I do, and I not in any way attracted to non-athletes) so a number of the boxes got checked right up front. Probably what I value- because I am old fashioned in this regard- is the very slow pace of evolution. We fire emails about weather cycling, the stuff we love, we share info bits that are revealing (he builds houses for Habitat for Humanity). Whether that moves forward is anyone’s guess. I am not invested, can’t be. I wonder at times if being not invested is what makes room. I have too many other priorities. The slow evolution is pleasant, though, and we’ll see. As with all things.
