Kipling's poem still rings true, especially for evangelicals, whose ignorance seems to be particularly deeply seated. Some time ago I was speaking to a friend who knew of a white evangelical woman who traveled to Namibia because she was going to save all those craven idiots who lived in caves. She was was deeply insulted to arrive and realize that Christianity, among other religions, was not only well-established but there were plenty of folks who knew their Bible and Biblical history far better than she. I am no believer, for I think that Christianity was manipulated to utter dominate the Black race all over the world (you and I are both trainers/teachers/wordsmiths and we know the power of speech) but the larger point is that she was importing ignorance to excellence and COULD NOT BELIEVE IT.
