I've written two prize winning books and umpteen articles between Linked In and Medium. I am a decent writer and most of my stuff is still shit. I think that's one reason I'm a decent writer, because I know that much of my stuff is still shit. When I am way too much in love with my own verbosity I get in my own way. That's the case with far too many folks on Medium, who honestly believe that the fact that this platform puts their shit on line that makes them a writer. Oh for fuck's sake. I went on a four week extreme riding trip in the BC wilderness two years ago. One woman sat her horse like a sack of potatoes. She couldn't ride if she had been Superglued on, she was a danger to her animal, the rest of us and to herself. On the truck en route to our hotel she exclaimed that she could call herself a "rider." Again, for fuck's sake. Ignorance is rife. I couldn't get away from her fast enough. I'm an equestrian, and I am still in so many ways a rookie, but knowing I am a rookie makes me one hell of a fine rider. I know when I don't know. And that makes all the difference.
