I've been thinking a lot more about this lately, MK, not just as it relates to the forced living next to superfund sites and the like, but the very long term health impacts of intense stress. About two weeks ago I took that Dartmouth stress test, a test designed by White men for White folks. First, I"m not sure that 15 years ago it would have occurred to me that it was a test designed by White men for White folks. Second, not only was there nothing about living in a pandemic, there was nothing about living in a dictatorship (yes we have been) and also the entire constellation of issues around surviving while Black in those worlds, surrounded by open KKK practitioners and all the rest. We have no idea. You already know what they are and what they do. White folks who talk about stress can only frame it as it applies to them. There is no real understanding of how those stresses take on a whole new meaning and impact while Black.
