It is the absolute height of arrogance, emotional immaturity and ignorance to read one person’s choice to not do X as a personal condemnation of your choice to do X. Gillian, I have been subjected to this monumental horse shit my entire long life. And NO you arseheads, I didn’t change my fucking mind as I got older. If anything my gut- which in this regard was dead-on accurate long before I ever saw double digits in my life- served me well. I don’t need to have a kid that I bloody well do not want so that others can feel validated. How puerile. How insecure. Even after I had my tubes tied people told me I’d have it reversed. How invasive. Of course I didn’t. I continue to be stunned that such a powerful and private decision is hijacked by every fuckwit with a completely unsolicited opinion.

All my closest female friends skipped kids. Those who had them, we parted ways largely because their lives were so different. And because all too often, those same friends expressed genuine envy for my freedom to chart my own course. It’s lonely, they wouldn’t want that, but they to a person regret not taking the time to have a full life before kids. It’s a tough decision either way, no right or wrong, except where others impose judgement on you for a critically important life choice.

GAH. It’s 2019, not 1919.
