It is satire, Karen. However the silliness that we spend on worrying about attention deserves satire. Your comment near the end about how the writer shouldn't expect nor look further than themselves for validation is indeed the point. Since you made that I point, I wonder why it was very clear to you in the body of the article that we were indeed saying the same thing? And why is a mild, sardonic rant unfortunate? Every so often, since I produce somewhere between two and four articles daily, with more and more of them on my own website rather than here, I have fun making fun of the silliness I see on Medium. Who is anyone to dictate to me or you or anyone else that such lighthearted jogs are a waste? That's for this writer to choose. Just as it is your choice to go for the chocolate or make a new friend. All you did here was reiterate my point. Was that a waste of YOUR talented writing skills? And just in case you can't hear it, I'm having fun with this. You took this terribly seriously. That's the waste, if there is any. But that's your choice, as it is for us all.
