I'm going to tag you in a piece later today, JW. I've been writing about this for a while but I really like how you teased out some of the reasons around why folks are so resistent. I use the term being "porous," which to me speaks to the willingness to not know, the willingness to understand that I didn't fucking wake up as the all-knowing God this morning. While I can't know this I have to wonder how much religion plays a part in this. I gotta believe it does. The holy terror about being wrong, that somehow it's some kind of moral decrepitude is tearing humanity apart. Based on fear and chosen ignorance (otherwise known as stupidity), this knee-jerk response to anything that threatens OUR way of seeing and believing is how we are burning ourselves to the ground. Well done, as usual.
