If you reread the article, the answers to many of your questions are answered in the copy. There is a fundamental issue and it has to do with intent. Being motivated in and of itself isn’t enough- many evil, horrific humans are highly motivated. What’s important is what drives us, and to what end. If it’s to be right, or to win, or to dominate, then I have to question motive. You raise excellent points and that was the point of the article. It’s not enough just to be energized. What is our why? who benefits? Who loses? And am I so identified with this purpose that I will run roughshod over others? That’s the point of the question. We need to ask hard, hard, hard, questions. Never easy.
