I would agree, MK. Here, two quick observations. From birth, with rare exception, the children I encounter AND their parents equate White with rich. That fundamental means a lifetime of begging and groveling to be close to all things White, as well as, and my opinion Marley, the belief from birth that to be White is to be superior (see: religion), to be White is to be the boss etc. So that from the beginning I grovel. The kids beg for candy and pens. Look, not all. But after many many trips to nine countries, those are powerful impressions. Second, there aren’t enough powerful and positive local role models. Albeit that is changing. For too many years well to do African families sent their boys to Ivy League schools. Too many of them went on to lead their countries with White men’s values, steal the wealth and put it in Switzerland bank accounts and then die overseas. They were, are, just st Black Jeff Bezos, but worse because of what they did to their own people. That is no kind of role model.
