I would add this to your argument:

Being ex-military, albeit some many years ago, I can speak to the relative ease with which hookups happen in the ranks and in the civilian areas where bases coexist. This combined with dating apps has engendered a real issue, which impacts readiness. Imagine whole platoons of soldiers sidelined with STIs when we are at war- a thought that clearly has occurred to the Pentagon pointy heads.

The rapid rise in STDs among my generation and those otherwise aging but in institutions speaks not only to the need for human warmth between the sheets as we get older. It also reveals the me-first self gratification this activity reveals when one infected Lothario makes the rounds among his dedicated biddies, which is fine for shits and giggles but not fine for health.

Irresponsible sexual behavior is horrifying to say the least. While he was a shit in many other regards, one reason I stuck it out with a BF for more than a decade was that he had used a condom until we were both tested and established, he regularly got himself checked and took his role in sexual health seriously.

Would that we all might be so responsible.
