I wondered if you were going to quote Wallace. I have that speech. The sad thing is that he was abusive, brutal and slightly mad, and ended his life young. He was indeed wise, and I love quoting his insights. I wish he had managed his own life better. He stalked a girlfriend, all kinds of things. He was clearly troubled, but brilliant, a combination that's actually pretty common. It's too bad he couldn't follow his own advice. I've seen people make fun of his work and of him. What Wallace wrote was well above what the average folks want to hear, and most certainly, that kind of life demands Deep Work. I've dedicated my life to Deep Work. And while I am not a fan of the uber-Christian leanings and anti-woman sentiments of The Work, which came out of G.I. Gurdjieff, there is intense wonderfulness in those studies. You simply have to edit out what isn't relevant.
