I was impressed with his work. I am also impressed when I see new work centering powerful female Black characters as in The Old Guard. Those give me hope for what we see modeled (Judge Jackson, Kamala Harris, like her or love her) we get validated in our world view of what’s possible. Media has a role in this, it sure as shit helped me rethink that female as perpetual victim role.
