I very nearly fell off my chair at this one, Deb. About 15 years ago I slaved over a book for years and years, always finding fault with it. It ended up on my computer, never published. In 2010 I got a passionate idea; nine months later that became a book which won three prizes. That first book? What a piece of awful, self-aggrandizing CRAP. Thank God it never saw the light of day. There’s a lovely book which absolutely underscores what you’re saying here: Stretch by Steven Sonensheim if I have the spelling right. All things are negotiable. The best trips I take are the ones that fall apart. Only then does the real adventure begin. What a great analogy for life.
