I understand what you're saying, albeit I'm not sure that the existence of Black and Brown excellence (with which I am currently surrounded here in Africa) is the counterpoint to what MK is saying. I don't pretend to be an expert in this, but the statistical issue isn't the argument. I hear a great many other things that she's underscoring. The fact of successful and excellent people isn't the issue, Mr. Bennett. The issues are what continues to still be against them, and their kids, and their grandkids, especially with the laws being passed now. But your argument isn't with me. I would take this up with Marley, for she is the author of the piece; I am a mere commenter. I would tend to agree that there is an anti-Black strain on the Left as well, which she has gone to the trouble of pointing out plenty in previous essays. I am reminded of Treebeard the Ent in Lord of the Rings when Merry and Pippin ask him what side he's on. Side? I'm on nobody's side, he replies, because nobody is on my side. That is how I read this. The Left is just lesser of two evils.
