…st draft of my new book, The Comfort Crisis. The contract with my publisher asked for 85,000 words. Watching my editor take untold hours of work out back and shoot it between the eyes was heartbreaking.

I had to remove 50,000 unnecessary words from a manuscript. Hurt. And it was cathartic. A great reminder that I am wordy and all too often in love with my own voice. Not everything I have to say is relevant.
