I didn’t do a very good job of expressing myself Lisa ( I am exhausted at the moment, it’s 3 am local time in Doha, Qatar, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it). I did get that message that you are aware of the increasing importance of rest and recuperation. Sometimes I take what people say and segue to the larger issue without making myself very clear, my apologies. I got your point. I think for so very many of us, and I most certainly bought into the compulsive nature of exercising as simply another OCD- and here I am only speaking for myself- it’s just another escape from feeling great emotional pain. I ended up causing physical pain, which in its own sick way was a kind of punishment for the crime of having been born. It’s hard damned work to get to the point where exercise in the best possible sense is self care rather than the Calvinist cat o’nine tails beating ourselves up for the crime of showing up. Very complex stuff sometimes, Lisa, but ultimately we get there if we’re willing to do the real work which has so much more to do with the deep work of the soul as opposed to the deep muscles of our core, but then again, in some ways they are one and the same. Kudos to you.
